The parts of the cost
- Domain name. A yearly fee to a registrar for your .com or .in name. Register it in your own name and email, not the developer's.
- Hosting. Where the site lives. Simple, static sites can be hosted cheaply or even free on modern platforms. Sites with logins, shops or databases cost more.
- Design and build. Usually the biggest one-time cost. It depends on the number of pages, whether the design is custom or a template, and features such as booking, payments or multiple languages.
- Content. Writing the text and preparing photos. Often underestimated. If you supply everything, it costs less.
- Upkeep. Security updates, backups, small edits and renewals. Some people do this themselves, others pay monthly.
- Third-party tools. Booking software, payment gateways, email and so on, each billed separately by the provider.
GST may apply on top of the price you're quoted, depending on the supplier.
